Hello Colleagues!
It’s been quite a while since you’ve heard from us. The truth is, we’ve been burning the midnight oil as we’ve gotten Daffodil Hill Press up and running. It began as an afterschool project and grew to thousands of books stored in a basement —sorted, packaged, and shipped by us personally (with love!). The good news is that over the past few months we’ve transitioned to working with a proper printing and shipping facility. Over 200,000 little decodable books have made their way into the hands of teachers and kids. Yay!
We are eager to bring our Still Learning newsletter back to life. We’re planning some posts about great professional texts, vocabulary, and text sets to support student comprehension. Stay tuned.
We are also excited to announce that Still Learning will be the professional development arm of Daffodil Hill Press, offering support for teachers, schools, and districts. We are now booking our calendars for this summer and next year. In addition to supporting work around phonics and decodable texts, we support a range of Pre-K through Grade 6 literacy topics—from play-based learning to content area writing to assessment-based targeted instruction.
We believe that professional learning experiences should be customized to fit each school or district’s need, so we are happy to work with your school or district to customize the topics and structures that make sense for you. Here are some of the ways we can support you:
School Based Professional Development
School based professional development often focuses on further developing teacher practice and student learning. This PD includes working with groups of teachers for study groups and, often, in-the classroom demonstrations and practice. On-site PD often unfolds in a series (several days across time) and can focus around grade level groups or cross-grade level groups.
Multi-Day Collaborations and Workshops
These three- to five-day learning experiences provide a powerful opportunity for groups of educators to dig deep into their literacy practices. Institutes may focus on a broad topic (i.e. writing instruction) or a smaller topic (i.e. using decodable texts in small groups), and can be crafted to meet the needs of your particular school or district. Depending on the size of the workshop, there may be multiple sections and presenters.
One-Day Workshops
One-day workshops are usually for larger audiences and focus on needs identified in consultation with the school or district.
Leadership and Coaching Support
Leadership and coaching support days can provide a needs assessment and goal setting for your building or delve into action planning based on school goals. Often, these days involve inventorying assessment calendars and analyzing data in order to plan for the year ahead.
Curriculum Writing
Schools and districts often request a need to further develop a customized school-based curriculum and units. This work can also be done alongside a team of literacy leaders or coaches.
We would love to collaborate with you! Please let us know if you are interested in working together, and we can set up a time to make a plan to support your school or district.

We look forward to hearing from you!
